3.22.10 -- About 6 months ago, Marie saw this amazing bike at her friend Ben Power's apartment. He had acquired it in his usual way, finding it abandoned on the street, in a dumpster, or in a basement/closet. The bikes Ben finds are always interesting and unique, obviously having many lives. This particular bike had been spray painted numerous times in numerous colors. The topmost layer was splotched with white, gray, and gold paint that looked like it had been applied then removed with a sponge or tape. Marie was struck with this beautiful texture and attempted to recreate it on her bicycle's makeover.

Marie painted her bike a base of reddish bronze (with sparkle of course), masked the lugs, and went to work creating texture with a brush and phantom gray paint (also with a sparkle of course). After applying and removing, applying and removing, and applying and removing, Marie finally got the texture. The last steps were to add white lug lining and a few coats of clear. Now, it's smooth to the touch. Voila!
